ChumleyArt is an online gallery featuring the work of photographer, artist and filmmaker Tim Chumley.
“Photography has been a passion throughout my life. I received my first camera when I was six, a Polaroid Big Swinger 3000 that I still own. I was continually shooting through high school, and in college I studied photography under award-winning professor Michael Peven at University of Arkansas. After a career in the advertising industry, culminating with a decade of teaching in an advertising-focused grad school, I became a full-time professional photographer in 2006.
A few years ago I began working in a new medium, charcoal. These drawings provide me with another outlet for expression, and give me the opportunity to create art in a more tactile and physical manner.
In 2014, I began working on a feature-length documentary. I produced more than 20 short-form docs with students while teaching, but making a feature was a completely different experience. Signs of Humanity, completed in September, 2016, has been accepted into eight film festivals, winning Best Documentary Feature at Chain NYC and Audience Choice at Fort Worth Indie Film Showcase.”
